Health Gauge helps working people and their families identify serious health risks earlier. We partner with union Locals, Health & Welfare Funds, TPAs, employers, and benefit partners to make comprehensive preventive screening convenient, accessible, and worth participating in.
Our coordinated programs may include onsite and at-home screening options, clinical laboratory testing, vascular and thyroid ultrasound screenings, cardiovascular testing, biometrics, secure digital results through The Gauge™, aggregate reporting, and follow-up strategies.
Our goal is simple: make participation easy, make results understandable, and help screening findings lead to appropriate care.
Early in his career, Health Gauge founder Scott McGlothlen saw firsthand how noninvasive screenings could uncover serious cardiovascular risks in people who felt perfectly healthy. He knew screening could be a powerful tool, but only if people could easily access it, understand their results, and know what to do next.
Scott and his best friend, John Montgomery, built Health Gauge in Iowa around that idea. As the company grew, so did its connection to the union community.

What started with ultrasound screening has grown into a comprehensive preventive screening program serving unions and working families across the country.
Our goal is simple: identify risk early, give people useful information, and help them take action before a health issue becomes a crisis.
The many relationships we’ve built with union leaders and members have shown us the value and importance of healthy, empowered, supported workers.
So when our own employees asked how to organize, we supported them wholeheartedly.
Our staff proudly belongs to Laborers’ Local 177 in Des Moines, Iowa. They are also proud participants in the Iowa Laborers’ Health and Welfare Plan.
